Meet Casey Morrison: Our New Project Manager
We’re starting off 2016 with a BANG!
We’re excited to let you know that our team is growing, and at a rapid rate! Our newest hire brings our total crew count to twelve employees, if you can believe it! We’ve come along way since the business first started in 2010, and we’re hoping to build an even bigger organization throughout this new year.
Typically, we have our newest hires take a few minutes to write-up a personal bio, letting us know about themselves, in their personal and professional lives. However, this time around, I thought it would be fun to ask Casey, our new Project Manager to answer a list of fun questions about himself in hopes to getting to know him a little better. So with that said, here’s his Q&A:
St. Johnsbury VT, Littleton NH, Wells River, VT
BA in Digital Media – Lyndon State College
BA in Graphic Design (Branding) – Lyndon State College
Interests & Hobbies:
I play on my local Rugby Club, where the Men’s side travels anywhere from Montreal to Newport RI to compete against other teams for division standing. Beyond that I like to lift heavy weights at the gym, and I’m active in the local Maker community where I work on hobby electronics and fabricate nicknacks with wood and cardboard.
What is on your “Wish/Bucket List” for the next five years:
- Sky Dive
- Learn to Ski
- Make a Robot
- Learn how to bake Baklava
If you could have a superpower, what would it be:
Flying. Are there any other choices?
- If there’s danger: fly away.
- If you want to pick a fight: fly up and drop something from high above.
- If you just want to get some alone time: fly to the mountain with a book.
What’s the best vacation spot you’ve been to:
Ragusa & Catania Sicily: because of the unreal blue ocean water, the old world architecture, slow to medium speed, relative unpopularity of destination, and the delicious food.
If you could interview one person dead or alive, who would it be:
If you asked me before last week I’d have said Freddie Mercury, but after David Bowie’s recent passing it’s now it’s a tossup between him and Freddie. You could say I feel under pressure now that I’ll have to choose.
How did you first learn about Burlington Bytes:
Burlington Bytes started working with my old firm by managing our digital marketing.
What is your role at BBytes:
I’m a Project Manager at Burlington Bytes, this means that it’s my job to brings projects to completion as fast, efficient, and under budget as possible, while bringing our clients ideas to life in an engaging way. After we determine the broad strokes of a client’s project, I help to define the more granular specifics and help to build expectations for both BBytes and our clients. Facilitating work from designers and developers I answer a lot of emails and make a lot of phone calls.
In addition to managing projects, I build internal and client documentation, actually write some of the website code, and expect to develop and run training workshops.
What do you like most about working at BBytes:
The dogs are pretty great, I’ve made fast friends with Lexy. Savannah, on the other hand, is a little firey – she and I have a delicate truce. That is of course until I start eating lunch.
Before working at BBytes, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had:
I grew up on a farm where my summers were spent baling hay and selling at local Farmers Markets. We’d get up at 5 or 6am to pick bags of sweet corn in preparation for the 10:00am market, and our corn had the best flavor because we had an ample supply of fertilizer from our cows.
Here’s a funny story: the corn was so sweet that people would often eat it without cooking it. We had some guys from New York buy from us, but they didn’t believe it was on the corn stalk just a few hours earlier, so we invited them to taste the freshness themselves. It only took one bite for them to realize just how fresh and sweet it was. They ate a dozen ears of corn “raw” right on the spot and took even more home for later.
What have you gained from working at BBytes:
Being so new to the crew I’m still adjusting to the environment, but the things I like the most are the open office atmosphere (no one is sequestered in an office, behind closed doors) and a commitment to standards. We’re always looking for ways to improve “the process” and that makes everyone invested in each other’s projects, so suggestions come from anywhere and are valued on merit.
We hope you enjoyed getting to know Casey! Everyone here at Burlington Bytes is thrilled to have him on the team, as he is hard-working, energetic and a pleasure to work with.
P.S. I don’t know about you but all I want to do right now is fly to Sicily, take a swim and eat some Baklava!
